Course Description: Microeconomics / Macroeconomics
Introduction to Microeconomics (fall semester – elective course open to juniors and seniors)
Students will be introduced to the core concepts of supply, demand, and markets. We will explore consumer and business behavior-the role of competition, monopoly, and game theory, research products, companies and major industries, and learn about the stock market.
Type of assignments: Weekly reading and homework on core topics, monthly quizzes/exams, current event readings and article summaries, a few short-term projects, and a final exam.
Introduction to Macroeconomics (spring semester – elective course open to juniors and seniors)
Students will be introduced to the three macroeconomic goals: price stability, low unemployment, and high & sustained economic growth. We will explore how major events, such as the Great Depression, have influenced the economy and economic policies of governments and central banks, and the factors that promote economic growth.
Type of assignments: Weekly reading and homework on core topics, monthly quizzes/exams, current event readings and article summaries, a few short-term projects, and a final project on a developing nation.
